These photos are all taken at the Haleakala National Park, which looms over 10,000 feet over sea level on the Island of Maui. In earlier times, according to Hawaiian legend, Haleakala was known as the "House of the Sun", where the demigod Maui slowed the sun each day to provide the sunshine Maui (the island) is now famous for.
